George Washington has demonstrated leadership in many ways, for one he led the Continental Army to victory in battle. The Battle of Trenton involved two armies, the Hessians and the Continental Army. The Hessians were British assassins during the Revolutionary War. The Hessians said “no one will be out in this weather to conquer,” but George Washington and his men crossed the Delaware River to conquer the town of Trenton in a brutal snowstorm. On Christmas day, at 6 O'clock in the morning, George Washington and his men opened fire on the Hessians, when they were drunk and half asleep. There were not very many deaths in the Battle of Trenton. There were more Hessians captured than killed.
After the Battle of Trenton British troops moved south from Canada, a second group moved North from New York City, and a third group moved East from Lake Ontario, to meet in Albany, New York”(Appleby, 158). After the Battle of Trenton the British moved from Princeton, New Jersey, to try and take back the town of Trenton, but the Continental Army was ready for them. George Washington told a group of men to go ambush and slow them down. The night the British attacked, George Washington and his men took the back roads out of Trenton to Princeton.
